Videoblog episode 3: Marmot Basin (Jasper, Alberta)

The Marmot Basin Ski Resort is settled half an hour out of Jasper up on the mountain. It mainly is part of one big bowl in which all of the lifts are. With a lot of powder you can hike up to the top of the bowl or ski the sides of it. Even with minus 27 degrees and arriving one day too late (after a big dump of snow) it was no problem to find a lot of fresh powder! From time to time it was even too much of it...
And if you arrive there on a day without powder, there is a nice terrain park with obstacles mainly for beginners and advanced boarders and skiers.

Jasper to Banff - the most spectacular journey in the world

After spending two days in Edmonton and Jasper, (a clip of Marmot Basin, the local ski resort will follow) the highway between Jasper and Banff was ahead of us. The over 250km drive through the Jasper and Banff National Parks is supposed to be the most spectacular journeys in the world. And even though we both don't have any comparison we would say that it is at least one of the most spectacular ones. And that is for a reason. It's hard to describe it, but the size and beauty of nature is just unbelievable. We both were totally astonished and will never forget that.

There are a lot of pictures following (sorry for that), but I hope they give you an impression of the scenery and landscape.

Isn' it impressive?
After a couple of snowy days, the highways are closed due to heavy snow or avalanches. Therefore we got stuck at Lake Louise and hope, that we can make it to Panorama tomorrow.

Drive safe!

Fernie wonderland

After six awesome days in Fernie we are heading to Calgary tomorrow. We celebrated the New Year and had a great start on January the first with some cross country skiing up to Island Land Lodge. Island Land Lodge is kind of Paradise on Earth. Delicious food, a beautiful lake and a huge range of Mountains in the Middle of nowhere. The Lodge also is a special place because it was owned by snowboard legend Craig Kelly.

Craig Kelly Memorial

We went back on the ski hill today, unfortunately with not that much fresh snow...
While driving to the resort I saw an interesting looking Truck Gap. Even with a tricky inrun through a little forest it worked out really good!

from time to time the landing was too flat...

I also got some good clips and the next video is already in production. Look forward to that!

We have been to Hidden Valley, the local Ski resort one hour away from Medicine Hat. I was testing different mounts and angles for my new GoPro Helmet Camera. Leave me a comment, if you got any other ideas, where to put it and how to film!
